Chennai: Tamilnadu on Sunday registered 716 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of persons tested positive for coronavirus infection in the State so far to 8,26,261.

According to the daily bulletin released by the State Health department last evening, the capital city of Chennai registered 208 cases.

As far as Chennai’s neighbouring districts are concerned, Chengalpattu registered 40 new cases and Kancheepuram saw 21 infections.

The districts of Cuddalore and Coimbatore witnessed nine and 76 new cases, respectively. As many as seven Covid-19 patients died, taking the total number of fatalities in the State due to the pandemic to 12,222.

On the positive side, 857 patients were discharged from various hospitals in Tamilnadu. With this, the total number of recoveries in the State has touched 8,06,875.
