Balaji Tharanitharan is known for making comedy put of serious situations. Going a step further from his Naduvula Oru Pakkatha Kanom, he stitches another funny tale about a serious issue in Oru Pakka Kathai.

In a nutshell, it is about a young girl who is found pregnant. But what is intriguing is that the reason for it is a battle between science and faith.

Kalidas Jayaram who is on a purple patch plays the lead. Mega Akash dons a different female lead. Striking different from the regular.

Interestingly, it is the maiden venture on screen for both that has cone now.
Balaji Tharanitharan sets the tone in the very first scene beginning with a Bhagavatham discourse. Slowly the characters are established one after another.

Meera (Megha Akash) is a girl who would see in your vicinity often. Simple and someone who goes about her task.

She falls for Sara (Kalidas Jayaram), who is typical boy next door. Bith their parents come to know their affair and decides to get them married once Sara completes her arrears and funds a job.

Call it an irony, Sara gets pregnant and her parents gets a huge shock. They run from pillar to post to find solution. Sara and Meera’s parents agree for an early wedding. When it looks like all issues are solved comes a shocker.

Meera is a virgin. All hell breaks loose. Quirky tien of events that connects us with Bhagavatham discourse that began first in the movie.

Three cheers to both Kalidas and Megha. They have given their best and fit the bill well. Kalidas and his body language deserve mention while Megha portrays mixed emotions well. All other characters chip in well.

The situation humour and evoking lighter moments from complex situations by Balaji Tharanitharan makes it an interesting watch.

The director superbly captures the embarrassing and emotional moments. Oru Pakka Kathai treads a new path and Balaji Tharanitharan has come up trumps.

Out in Zee5 for Christmas, Oru Pakka Kathai provides an interesting watch.
