Chennai: Leaders including Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam today paid tributes to former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran on his 33rd death anniversary.

A charismatic actor-turned-politician, Ramachandran is fondly addressed as MGR by his supporters and followers.

Though more than three decades have passed after his death, MGR ontinues to remain politically relevant in the State and being pointed by aspiring politicians like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.

While addressing the students of a city college, Rajinikanth had said that he would be able to provide good governance as like MGR with the support of the people.

Former Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy said that Rajinikanth would continue in the path of MGR. Kamal said he grew up on the lap of MGR and the late leader belongs to all.
