Chennai: Days after Tamil small screen actor Chitra was found dead in a city hotel, her husband Hemanth has been arrested for alleged abetment to suicide.

According to sources, investigators have revealed that Hemanth was not happy with Chitra’s recent intimate scenes in a serial.

“He is said to have expressed his displeasure regarding this. He is also suspected to have pushed her in a fit of anger, the day she was found dead,” sources said.

It may be noted that Hemanth was being questioned ever since Chitra died, and his subsequent arrest by the Nazrathpet police, does not come as a surprise to her family and colleagues, who were already suspecting his role in her death.

Financial pressure is also said to be another reason for the actor to have taken the extreme step.

On 10 December, Chitra had finished shooting at EVP film city and had returned to her hotel in Nazrathpet, where she had been staying with her husband.

At around 2.30 am, she is said to have asked Hemanth to go out, as she wanted to take a shower.

According to him, when she failed to open the door for a long time, he asked for a duplicate key and opened it, and reportedly found her hanging from the fan with a saree.

Chitra who was engaged to Hemanth in August, had secretly married him in October.

The actress, who is extremely popular on social media, had rose to fame playing one of the central roles in ‘Pandian Stores’, that is being aired in Star Vijay channel.
