Chennai: BJP Tamilnadu unit president L Murugan said that the decision regarding the existing alliance with the ruling AIADMK, will be taken and announced by the party high command.
Addressing a massive gathering as part of his ‘Vetrivel or Vel yatra’ here, he said, “Top leaders of the BJP are in touch with those in AIADMK”.
Murugan’s remarks come weeks after AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselvam announced that his party’s alliance with the BJP will continue for the 2021 assembly elections.
On actor Rajinikanth’s decision to enter politics, Murugan said, “Everyone has a right to launch a party in a democracy”.
He also asserted that there would be no exodus of party members from the BJP to the latter’s proposed party, even as BJP State Intellectual Wing president Ra Arjuna Murthy joined the actor’s camp a day earlier.
When questioned on the possibility of an alliance, he noted that the party will decide its stand after consultations with its high command.
He also expressed confidence on the National Democratic Alliance assuming power in Tamilnadu in 2021.
