Chennai: Rajinikanth is my friend for years. I will ask his support for Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) in the forthcoming 2021 Assembly elections, said MNM chief Kamal Haasan today.

Speaking to reports at his party office in Alwarpet, Kamal Haasan, said, “I would want Rajinikanth to lead a healthy life. His good health is my priority. But will welcome whatever he decides about political entry”.

Asked about forging alliance for Assembly elections, Kamal, said, “Will discuss and decide about it at an appropriate time”.

We can’t live as a slave all through our life, added Kamal Haasan. Earlier, former IAS officer Santosh Babu today joined MNM in the presence of Kamal Haasan. He was given the membership card by Kamal himself.

Welcoming Santosh Babu, Kamal said, “We welcome Santosh Babu, who joined our party keeping faith in us to serve people”.

He said Santosh Babu, who recently opted for voluntary retirement, will be incharge of preparing manifesto for elections.

On his part, Santosh Babu said that he will strive to serve his best for the party.
