Chennai’s Coronavirus positive cases further dip below 9,000

Chennai: After witnessing several spikes of Covid-19 spread, the city is now seeing a downward trend in terms of active cases. This morning the tally of total number of positive persons was at 8,856.

Since the lockdown, Chennai has recorded 1,96,378 cases of Covid-19, of which 1,83,923 have recovered since the pandemic began. Chennai is showing 94 per cent recovery rate. Nearly 3,599 persons have died due to the viral infection.

As per records, 452 persons have died in Teynampet, 403 persons in Anna Nagar and 400 casualties are reported in Kodambakkam.

On 26 October, 10,589 tests were carried out by the City Corporation’s health department.

As per data, there are no places with 1,000 cases. In the months of July, August and October there was a severe spread of positive cases.

Currently, Anna Nagar has 744 positive cases and 647 persons in Kodambakkam have
the virus.

The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 62.23 per cent of the patients are male and 37.77 per cent are female.

Around 18.43 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 50-59 years.
