Chennai: At the fag end of the lockdown, there seems to be no respite from the spread of the deadly Coronavirus in Chennai.
This morning, the active cases in the city were at 13, 530 which is 10 per cent. As many as 2,690 persons have succumbed to the disease since March.
The city has recorded 1,31,869 cases, of which, 1,15,649 have recovered. As per the graph, the recovery rate is at 88 per cent. As part of rapid testing, on 29 August, as many as 13,827 persons were tested for Coronavirus.
The Greater Chennai Corporation today gave an area-wise break-up of the places which have high numbers of Covid-19.
According to the data, in Kodambakkam, nearly 1,565 persons have the disease. Anna Nagar, a containment zone has 1,562 persons contracting the virus, Ambattur has 1,177 persons testing positive. At least 1,310 persons in Adyar have the infection and in Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar, 1,065 have the infection.
In Kodambakkam, as many as 13,253 persons have recovered and the most number of lives were claimed in Teynampet with 381 persons succumbing to the virus.
The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 60.17 per cent of the patients are male and 39.83 per cent are female. Around 18.55 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 30-39 years.
