Chennai: Arappor Iyakkam, a non-government organisation, conducted a signature event ‘Know Your Rights’ for building an informed citizenry.

The event was held on 9 June at 5 pm at Sri Krishna Hall, 68, Teacher’s Colony, Third Cross Street, Kasthuribai Nagar (landmark near Venkatarathinam Pillaiyar Koil).

A press release said, “We could see people getting disturbed and complaining about the garbage pile around, feeling upset on the sewage stench from Adyar river and Buckingham canal and the mosquito menace in the winter season and so on. There are people who want to be part of the neighbourhood activities for a better living environment, but clueless how to go about it.”

Arappor ‘Know Your Rights’ sessions are framed in such a way that it gives step-by-step guidance to identify the problems and a practical approach to solve the same.
