Chennai: The city police have detained 19 youngsters for rash driving and racing on Kamarajar Salai in the wee hours of today.

According to police, ten two-wheelers were confiscated from the men while they were near Vivekanada Statue on Marina beach road at 1.15 am.

“They were overspeeding and so we stopped them. They claimed they were on Ramzan fast and wanted to be awake to break the fast,” police said. Police detained the youth and informed their parents. Anna Square Traffic Investigation is inquiring the case.
