
Chennai: As many as 7,478 passengers have used share auto services at Ekkatuthangal Metro station during March and April.
As part of providing last-mile connectivity to Metro passengers, CMRL had taken up the initiative of providing feeder services through share auto and share taxi services at select Metro stations on a trial basis for six months from 11 August.
Eight Metro stations were identified for the service, including Ashok Nagar and Ekkatuthangal.
The share auto feeder services are running on the designated feeder routes with a flat tarrif of Rs 5 and share taxi services covering an area up to 3 km radius with a flat rate of Rs 10.
A total of 3,908 passengers used share autos in March and 3,570 passengers in April at Ekkatuthangal.
The share auto services are available at Guindy, Thirumangalam, Alandur, Little Mount, Ekkatuthangal, Koyambedu and St Thomas Mount stations.
Similarly, share taxi services are available at Egmore, AG-DMS, Anna Nagar East, Koyambedu, Alandur and Vadapalani stations. Overall, 89,299 passengers have utilised the share auto and share taxi feeder services at Metro stations during March and April.
According to a CMRL press release, 42,289 passengers have utilised the cab services in March – 6,574 share taxi services and 35,715 share auto services.
Similarly, 44,940 passengers used the services in April, in which, 6,260 opted for share taxi and 38,680 for share autos.
Around 3,03,795 passengers have availed of the share auto and share taxi feeder services from 11 August 2018 to 30 April 2019.
