Chennai: DMK today submitted a petition to Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo seeking additional protection to all the counting centres 23 May.

The petition was filed by DMK’s Sriperumbudur Lok Sabha candidate T R Baalu. It is said the party has asked the ECI to give the details about the percentage of votes registered in each table after the counting is over.

The party has also requested to permit one agent from the parties to be present during the VVPAT counting.

Meanwhile, the AIADMK has asked the party agents to be cautious during the counting. In a joint statement, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam have said the agents should not let their focus shatter and must be very attentive.

They have also asked the agents to reach the counting centres at 6 am to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made properly.
