Srinagar: The two-day per week ban on the movement of civilian vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar-Baramulla national highway came into force on 7 April. This move comes to facilitate safe passage of security convoys.
It is learnt that the ban will be in force on Sundays and Wednesdays till 31 May.
CRPF personnel, police and army have been deployed at all intersections leading to the highway to ease the convoys of security forces, sources said.
An official spokesman said, “The ban was imposed in view of large number of security personnel being moved around for election duty in the state. The ban will be in place from Udhampur to Baramulla via Srinagar”
