Chennai: Special team has been formed to probe in to the case of a 20-year-old woman who was found dead on Saturday evening on roadside near Gomangalam town, Pollachi, with her neck severed.

The second-year college student, Asha*, went missing and her parents filed a ‘missing person’ plaint with the police station in Coimbatore city on Saturday morning.

According to sources, the woman had boarded a bus to her hometown on Friday afternoon and had spoken to her mother during the journey. Her parents went ahead with the complaint as Asha did not reach home on Friday.

It is stated that the police from Gomangalam were informed about the body of a young woman with severed neck near Poosaripatty village. On conducting inquiry, it was learnt that it was Asha, her parents were intimated and has been sent to the hospital for conducting autopsy.

An FIR has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of IPC at Gomangalam police station.

Meanwhile Coimbatore S P Sujith Kumar has formed four special teams to probe into the case and arrest the culprits. CCTV footages near her college are being identified for cues.
