The Rotary Club of Chennai Carnatic organised the Carnatic Awards 2019 on 14 March at Hyatt Regency in Teynampet, Chennai.

According to a release, the event is being conducted for the third year in a row by the Rotary Club of Chennai Carnatic, that honours deserving citizens of Chennai for their contribution to the society.

This year five eminent from different fields were felicitated. Carnatic vocalist and playback singer P Unni Krishnan was awarded for his 25 years of vocational excellence in the field of music.

Women entrepreneur Saundarya Rajesh, was awarded the Chennai Carnatic Women empowerment Award for her contribution to provide second career to women by giving them employment. Billiards world champion S Shrikrishna, Pediatric heart surgeon Dr Prashant Shah was awarded Exemplary Medical services award for his relentless service in the field of Pediatric heart surgery.

He has performed over 4500 surgeries through various social initiatives and tie-ups with hospitals across the state. Bariatric metabolic surgeon Dr Neha Prashant Shah was honored with Chennai Carnatic Vocational Excellence Award for her medical skills,training and success in Bariatrics and Metabolic surgery. Billiards world champion S Srikrishna was also awarded for his excellence in Sports.
