Chennai: A Special Jail Searching Team seized ganja and heavy dose of pain killers from an accused lodged at Puzhal Central Prison here.

According to police, the contraband was seized from Karthik who was remanded at Puzhal Prison-2 on 23 January in connection with the brutal murder of rowdy Kumaresan (30), in broad daylight at Arumbakkam on 21 January.

“The search took place at 5.30 pm. The team seized 10 grams of ganja and 45 tablets. We suspect he hid the items in his body and smuggled it into the prison premises,” sources added.
