Chennai: More than 125 middle school teachers, who were on protest for the fourth day in succession at the Department of Public Instruction campus, here, reportedly fell unconscious today.

The teachers had started protesting on Monday citing wage differences.

Those who blacked out were taken to the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital, and were subsequently treated, sources stated.

The ongoing protest saw teachers take part in it along with their family members. It is reported that they did not take any food and continued their fight against alleged wage differences staying awake all night.

Previously, talks with the Secretary of the School Education Department, Pradeep Yadav, had ended in failure.
