Tambaram railway station gets battery-operated vehicles

Chennai: Southern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (SRWHO) has sponsored two battery-operated vehicles at Tambaram railway station.

At a function held on Tambaram railway station premises Wednesday, SRWHO president Mansi Kulshrestha handed over the battery-operated cars to the station manager in the presence of Southern Railway General Manager R K Kulshrestha, Chennai Divisional Railway Manager Naveen Gulati and railway officials.

The vehicles cost about Rs 3.69 lakh and is said to benefit senior citizens, differently-abled, sick passengers and other railway users.

The vehicles can be used by the passengers at free of cost. Sources revealed that the facility can be accessed by calling the mobile numbers of drivers displayed at Tambaram Railway station or also by seeking the help of the station master and other railway staff present at the station.

According to railway sources, Southern Railway has provided battery-operated vehicles to 17 railway stations across the zone so far.
