Chennai: The Lifco Sri Ramanuja Sevasri Awards 2018 were presented to A M Rajagopalan for his work in the field of religion and restoration of temples, renowned scholar K B Devarajan, and Vainavakural publisher T V Rangarajan at a function in the city recently.

The award, consisting of gold medal, gold coin and certificate, was given in the presence of Jeeyar Swamy – Azhwarthirunagari, Hyderabad High Court judge V Ramasubramanian and Madras High Court judges N Kirubhakaran and G R Swaminathan.

Lifco Chairman T N C Vijayasarathy honoured the Jeeyar and the dignitaries. The Jeeyar and the guests of honour began free distribution of the book titled ‘Periya Jeeyar Perumaiyum, Ubhadesha Rathnamalai‘ and the poster to commemorate the 750th birth natchatram of Swami Desikar.

A talk show on the topic, ‘Kothaiyin Payinthamizh – Thiruppavai,’ by K Srivallaban, U M A V Madhusudanan, E S Srinidhi and G Krishna Krupa was also organised.

The award is instituted to recognise people for their services in spreading the virtues, principles
and the philosophy of Jagadacharyan Bhagavad Ramanujar through seminars, upanyasayams, literary
works, publications, social awareness, restoration of temple works and any other means that propagates the greatness of Swami Ramanujar, a press release said.
