Dr Agarwal’s director is first woman to get Kritzinger award

Chennai: Dr Agarwal’’s Group of Eye Hospitals, Dr Agarwal’’s Refractive and Cornea foundation, director and head Soosan Jacob became the first woman internationally to receive the prestigious ‘Kritzinger Memorial Award’ at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) held in Chicago, United States.

A press release said she received this award for her numerous innovative techniques and devices in the fields of cornea, refractive, cataract and glaucoma surgery that have helped improve patient care and outcomes internationally, her skill in management of complex surgical scenarios as well as for contributing significantly to peer education in Ophthalmology.

“The Kritzinger Memorial Award recognises an individual who embodies the clinical, educational and investigative qualities of the late Dr Michiel Kritzinger who was one of the foremost eye surgeons in the world and is presented every year at the AAO meeting which, with an annual attendance of nearly 23,000, is the biggest eye conference in the world,” the release added.
