Chennai: A woman lost her five sovereign gold chain while attending a temple festival at MGR Nagar Friday.

According to police, Yamuna Palanivel (65), after participating in the festival, realised her gold chain was missing.

Subsequently, she lodged a complaint with MGR Nagar police who suspect the involvement of chain snatchers who target women during temple festivals.

A police source said, “The complainant alleged she lost the chain in the crowd, but she does not know how. We think chain snatchers to have taken it.”

The police are going through CCTV visuals for a lead in the case.
