Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to visit Gudalur in Nilgiris district on January 13, 2026.

The visit will see him attend a gold celebration event at a private matriculation higher secondary school in Gudalur, where he will be the chief guest.

According to local reports, Gandhi will arrive by helicopter at the Marthoma Nagar ground and then travel by car to the school to participate in the Poon Vizha (gold festival) programme. Congress organisers are planning an enthusiastic reception along the route, with party supporters gathering to welcome him over a 2-kilometre stretch.

Authorities have also made arrangements for tight police security ahead of the event, ensuring a smooth and secure visit. The programme is expected to be followed by Gandhi’s departure for Kerala, continuing his itinerary.

Gandhi’s trip comes amid heightened political activity in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, drawing attention to the Congress party’s engagements in the state.
