Palladam,  Dec 30: At the ‘Vellum Tamil Penngal’ conference organised by the DMK women’s wing here on Monday, DMK Deputy General Secretary and MP Kanimozhi lauded Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, describing him as a “sledgehammer blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)” and highlighting his leadership as a bulwark against divisive politics.
Addressing a large gathering that included Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, party leaders and thousands of women supporters, Kanimozhi said the event was a tribute to Stalin’s governance focused on justice, equality and fraternity.
She asserted that under his leadership, women’s rights and welfare had taken centre stage, with Tamil Nadu recording some of the highest levels of women’s participation in education and employment.
Kanimozhi contrasted the state government’s performance with criticisms by opposition parties, especially the BJP, alleging that rivals wrongly portrayed Tamil Nadu as unsafe for women.
She pointed to the rapid filing of a first information report (FIR) in the Covai woman’s case as evidence of swift action and rule of law in the State.
She emphasised that DMK’s welfare commitments resonated strongly with women voters, claiming that 1.30 crore women would affirm that the party’s pledges had been delivered.
Kanimozhi urged unity against political narratives that sought to divide people, declaring that Stalin’s leadership would be a decisive force against the BJP’s electoral ambitions in southern India.
Her remarks come amid heightened political mobilisation ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, where the DMK-led alliance is positioning itself as a defender of social justice and inclusive governance.
