Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary TTV Dhinakaran urged the Tamil Nadu government to promptly release long-pending pension benefits for retired professors and staff of the University of Madras.Reports reveal the state has withheld around Rs 95 crore in dues for employees retired over the past decade, sparking widespread shock amid the institution’s acute financial woes. Dhinakaran called for a dedicated fund to alleviate the university’s crisis and ensure retirees receive their entitlements without further delay.
“The government must act now to honor these contributions,” Dhinakaran emphasized from Chennai, highlighting the retirees’ plight as a pressing governance failure ahead of upcoming polls.
