The trailer of Marutham, directed by V. Gajendran, has been released. The film stars Vidharth as Kanniappan, a farmer who struggles to save his ancestral land.The story shows how Kanniappan, in need of money, tries to mortgage his land for a loan. But he is shocked to learn that a loan has already been taken in someone else’s name using his land papers. From there, his life turns into a fight against fraud and bureaucracy as he runs from office to office seeking justice.
Rakshana plays the female lead opposite Vidharth. The film also features Aruldoss, Maran, Saravanan Subbaiah, Dinamodhu Nagaraj, and Mathew Varghese in key roles. Arul Somasundaram is the cinematographer, Chanduru B is the editor, and lyrics are written by Neethi.
The title Marutham refers to the fertile agricultural lands in classical Tamil literature, highlighting the theme of farming and identity. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on October 10.
