The Rouse Avenue Court confirmed on Tuesday that copies of the Enforcement Directorate’s Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and Dr. Subramanian Swamy’s 2014 complaint have been handed over to all proposed accused in the National Herald money-laundering case. The court noted that these documents were previously taken on record and clarified that Tuesday’s proceedings were to ensure compliance with that order. The judge emphasized the importance of transparency in the process. During the hearing, counsel for Dotex Merchandise Pvt Ltd argued that the company’s name does not appear in either the ECIR dated June 30, 2021, or in Dr. Swamy’s complaint dated July 4, 2014. The matter will now be taken up on September 26 for further clarifications.
The court had earlier reserved its order on taking cognizance of the chargesheet filed against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others in the National Herald money-laundering case. Since then, it has been seeking clarifications on various aspects of the case.
