The Meteorological Department has announced that a new low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal. It developed near the north Andhra and south Odisha coast on 12th September 2025 at 8:30 am.

The low-pressure system is expected to move west-northwest and cross south Odisha and north Andhra within the next two days.

Due to this, light to moderate rain is expected in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Strong winds at 30-40 kmph, along with lightning and thunder, are likely. Heavy rain is expected in Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Puducherry.
