Bengaluru, Aug 11: Hombale Films has officially revealed the first look of actress Rukmini Vasanth as Kanakavathi, the lead character in the highly anticipated cinematic epic Kantara Chapter 1.

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who also reprises his role as the central protagonist, the film serves as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. The original film, celebrated for its deeply rooted storytelling and cultural authenticity, became a nationwide phenomenon and received widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike.

Earlier this year, the makers created a massive stir on social media with the release of Rishab Shetty’s first-look poster on his birthday, followed by a behind-the-scenes wrap-up video that fueled fan excitement. The unveiling of Kanakavathi’s character poster now marks another major milestone in the movie’s promotional campaign.

Kanatara Chapter 1 promises to explore an emotionally rich and visually stunning chapter of the Kantara universe, featuring powerful performances, a strong cultural backdrop, and immersive storytelling. Cinematographer Arvind S. Kashyap brings the film’s visual grandeur to life, while B. Ajaneesh Loknath returns with his signature soul-stirring music. The project is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films.

The film is slated for a worldwide release on October 2, 2025, in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English, making it one of the year’s most awaited pan-Indian releases.
