Washington, Aug 7: Emma Raducanu has named Francisco Roig—former long-time coach to Rafael Nadal—as her head coach through the end of the 2025 season, Daily Mail reported. The 57-year-old Spaniard brings nearly 20 years of top-level experience, having worked alongside Toni Nadal during all 22 of Nadal’s Grand Slam wins, and more recently with Matteo Berrettini. This marks Raducanu’s eighth full-time coaching appointment since her 2021 breakout, signalling a renewed push for stability and technical growth. With Roig now leading her team, she aims for a strong showing in the upcoming US Open swing.
We are very aware she needs a second coach to come on board and maybe just one coach, not me, as well,” Petchey said back in July.
After a trial period following Wimbledon, Raducanu secured Roig’s services ahead of the Cincinnati Open, with an eye on breaking into the WTA’s top 32 and earning a seeded spot at the US Open.
