Tirchy, July 15: Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday called upon DMK party cadres to actively campaign for the government’s welfare schemes over the next eight months to ensure a strong mandate in the 2026 Assembly elections. Speaking at multiple events in Tiruchy, he reaffirmed that the Dravidian model of governance prioritises the common man, with special attention to the needs of women and students.“Our government has introduced several welfare initiatives, including the Magalir Urimai Thogai which has been distributed for 22 months. A new doorstep service scheme, Ungaludan Stalin, will be launched on July 15 to deliver government services directly to the people,” Udhayanidhi said.
He emphasised that these efforts are part of a larger goal to uplift the lives of Tamil Nadu’s citizens. “It is time for us to stand united, take the benefits of these schemes to every household, and work for a massive DMK victory in the upcoming polls,” he told the cadre.
Earlier in the day, Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurated a library in Varaganeri, Tiruchy, built at a cost of ₹26.60 lakh in memory of Francis, a Dravidian leader and staunch follower of Periyar. Ministers KN Nehru, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, and District Collector V Saravanan were present at the event.
Later, addressing a wedding function of former MLA and DMK headquarters executive member KN Sekaran’s family, Udhayanidhi stressed the importance of family values. “Support from parents is crucial for personal growth. Even in politics, a strong father-son relationship plays a key role in one’s journey,” he said, in a message blending personal advice with political symbolism.
The visit highlighted DMK’s focused outreach efforts in Tiruchy, a region that has long remained a party stronghold.
