Actor Kalaiyarasan is all set to headline debutant director Sivaraj N’s film Trending, which is scheduled to hit theatres on July 18. The announcement was made by the makers on Wednesday.

Actress Priyalaya, known for her roles in Inga Naan Thaan Kingu alongside Santhanam and Good Night starring Manikandan, plays the female lead opposite Kalaiyarasan. The film also features Prem Kumar and Besant Ravi in supporting roles.

The story of Trending is said to revolve around the darker side of social media, focusing on a couple of influencers whose relationship begins to deteriorate as they chase online popularity. Interestingly, the theme bears resemblance to Kalaiyarasan’s previous segment Fame Game in the anthology film Hot Spot, released last year.

Kalaiyarasan was last seen in Madraskaaran, the Tamil debut of Malayalam actor Shane Nigam. He is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming films Mugam and Thandakaaranyam.
