In a recent address, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized India’s unwavering stance against terrorism and its refusal to succumb to nuclear intimidation. Highlighting the nation’s zero-tolerance policy, he underscored the necessity for those who sponsor and utilize terrorism to face significant consequences. This declaration follows India’s decisive actions under Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist command centers in Bahawalpur and Muridke, in response to the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives .
Jaishankar also criticized the transactional nature of some nations’ foreign policies, suggesting that for certain countries, it’s become fashionable to prioritize short-term gains over consistent ethical standards. He pointed out the inconsistency of these nations, which often advocate for democracy and globalization while engaging in practices that undermine political sovereignty, especially in the Global South .
India’s recent actions and statements reflect a broader shift in its foreign policy, moving from a reactive to a more assertive approach. By taking decisive military action and openly challenging global double standards, India is signaling its readiness to defend its sovereignty and uphold its principles on the international stage. This assertiveness not only strengthens India’s position globally but also serves as a warning to those who might underestimate its resolve.
