Kamal Haasan credits Telugu film industry for his stardom

Veteran actor Kamal Haasan recently acknowledged the pivotal role the Telugu film industry played in shaping his illustrious career. During a promotional event in Hyderabad for his upcoming film Thug Life, Haasan expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the industry. He remarked, “I was made as a hero in Kerala, but I was made a star here (in Telugu film industry). This is the home where I grew up as a star.”
Kamal Haasan also reflected on his renewed collaboration with director Mani Ratnam, 38 years after their iconic film Nayakan. He noted, “Mani’s direction has improved, which will surprise you all, though not me. I know that an artist like him will have to evolve. I was happy to meet that Mani Ratnam then; now, I have become ready to meet this version of him.”
Thug Life, featuring a star-studded cast including Trisha, Silambarasan, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, and Nassar, is set to release on June 5, 2025. The film marks a significant reunion between Haasan and Ratnam, promising to be a noteworthy addition to their storied careers.
