Erode: Former Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has announced that he will begin an indefinite hunger strike from May 20 if the perpetrators behind the recent double murder of an elderly couple, Ramachandran and Bhagyam, in Erode district are not apprehended. The couple was found murdered in their plantation home under mysterious circumstances, sparking outrage across the state.Annamalai criticized the state’s handling of the case and questioned the government’s priorities, pointing out the rise in crime and violence, particularly against women. He also took a jab at the state’s celebration of awards and accolades for ministers, pointing out that while such events were being organized, serious crimes such as murder and sexual assaults were increasing.
He further demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) take over the case and called out the state government for its failure to curb crime, saying that law and order had broken down under Chief Minister Stalin’s leadership.
Annamalai also expressed anger at the police’s inability to do their job effectively, citing their failure to act decisively on several crime cases, including those against women. He warned that if the murderers were not arrested in two weeks, the BJP would take stronger actions.
The statement came amid a series of protests in Erode by BJP, condemning the series of murders and crimes.
