The much-awaited trailer for Sarathkumar’s upcoming crime thriller The Smile Man has been unveiled, sparking excitement among fans and cinephiles alike. Directed by the duo Syam-Praveen, the film promises a gripping narrative and is slated to release in theatres on December 27.Sarathkumar plays the intriguing role of Chidambaram Nedumaaran, a police officer battling early-stage Alzheimer’s. The plot revolves around his pursuit of a ruthless copycat killer who leaves a chilling signature on his victims — mutilated and stitched mouths resembling a sinister smile. The killer’s eerie pattern of resurfacing every time Chidambaram comes into the light adds an element of psychological tension, making the case deeply personal as the officer himself becomes the assassin’s prime target.
Director Syam described the film as “a crime thriller that follows a retired police officer with early signs of Alzheimer’s. With a serial killer on the run, the character must solve the case before his memory completely fails him.”
The screenplay, penned by Kamala Alchemis, promises a taut and suspenseful storyline. Joining Sarathkumar in the ensemble cast are Sija Rose, Ineya, George Maryan, Suresh Menon, Kumar Natarajan, and Aazhiya.
The film’s technical team boasts talented professionals, including Vikram Mohan as the filmmaker, Gavaskar Avinash composing the music, and San Lokesh handling the editing. Produced by Salil Das, Anish Haridasan, and Anandan T, The Smile Man is expected to offer a visually compelling and musically enriched cinematic experience.
