To alleviate the hardships faced by consumers due to heavy rains caused by Cyclone Fengal and a deep depression, Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V. Senthilbalaji announced an extension for electricity bill payments in several affected districts.
In a 000000000issued on Monday, the minister said that consumers in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Tiruvannamalai can pay their electricity bills without penalties until December 10. This extension applies to consumers whose original payment due dates fall between November 30 and December 9.
This measure follows a similar extension provided earlier for consumers in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu, also severely impacted by heavy rains.
The decision to extend the payment deadline comes as a relief for residents in these districts, many of whom faced disruptions due to floods and waterlogging, making timely payment of bills challenging. The minister assured that the government is committed to supporting citizens during these difficult times.
Consumers in the affected districts can now complete their payments by December 10 without incurring any penalties, offering them much-needed flexibility.0
