In anticipation of the weekend rush, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Department has announced special arrangements to operate additional buses across the state starting from Friday. This initiative aims to accommodate the increased number of travelers over the weekend.According to a statement released by the department, a total of 275 additional buses will be deployed from Kilambakkam to various key destinations, including Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur on Friday. On Saturday, this number will increase to 315 buses.
Additionally, 55 extra buses will be operated from Koyambedu to Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru on both Friday and Saturday. Furthermore, 200 additional buses will be running from Bengaluru, Tiruppur, Erode, and Coimbatore to various parts of the state to manage the weekend traffic.
The department also announced that additional buses will be arranged on Sunday to accommodate passengers returning to Chennai and Bengaluru after the weekend. The need-based deployment will ensure that all travelers can reach their destinations comfortably.
So far, 8,739 passengers have booked their tickets online for travel on Friday, with 3,414 and 8,107 passengers booking for Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The Transport Department has assured the public that more buses will be added if necessary to meet the demand.
