Paris, July 26: Staff at the Hôtel du Collectionneur, the luxury hotel hosting the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for Paris 2024, went on strike this morning, disrupting breakfast service. Workers, including chefs and waiters, protested for two hours, claiming they haven’t received a pay rise since 2017 despite the hotel paying £18.5m for the Olympic contract.

The strike, led by the Union Départementale CGT Paris (UD CGT), highlights demands for a “13th month” bonus, a common practice in France’s high-end hotel sector. The hotel’s management and the union have been in negotiations since June, but recent offers have been rejected.

The IOC has downplayed the impact on its events, while Hôtel du Collectionneur assures that operations will continue smoothly. The strike raises concerns about potential future disruptions during the Games.
