Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai has accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of misleading the public by presenting schemes funded by the Central government as initiatives of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government. Annamalai made these allegations in a post on social media platform X.Annamalai stated that despite being in power for the past three years, the DMK government has failed to fulfill its election promises or implement any beneficial schemes for the people of Tamil Nadu. He accused the Stalin-led government of focusing on advertising and falsely claiming credit for Central government-funded projects.
“For developing school education, the Central government sanctioned ₹5,858.32 crore to Tamil Nadu in the last three years under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. However, Mr. Stalin is trying to project the schemes implemented with the Central government funds as State government schemes,” Annamalai alleged.
Annamalai also criticized the DMK government for its handling of educational initiatives. He pointed out that the State government had not allocated any funds for running kindergarten classes in schools for the past two years. He further questioned the decision to award ₹1,000-crore worth of contracts for purchasing equipment to set up smart classrooms in schools to a Kerala government-run company, bypassing the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT).
“Why has the State government given ₹1,000-crore worth of contracts to a Kerala government-run company instead of ELCOT? Will the Chief Minister explain the contract?” Annamalai demanded.
Annamalai emphasized the significant financial contributions made by the Central government to Tamil Nadu, particularly in the education sector. He accused the DMK government of taking undue credit for these initiatives to mislead the public about their effectiveness and efficiency in governance.
