Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi has clarified that he is unaware of any criminal case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President K. Annamalai or any sanction given to prosecute him.
In a statement released by the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan, it was stated that they have been receiving inquiries from the public regarding news circulating in the media about the Governor’s alleged sanction to prosecute Annamalai. The release emphasized that the Raj Bhavan is not aware of any criminal case against Annamalai and has not issued any sanction order for prosecution.
This clarification comes in the wake of Annamalai’s recent tweet, wherein he shared copies of a government order alleging that the DMK government had accorded sanction to prosecute him for recalling an incident from 1956. Annamalai, in his tweet, accused the DMK government of filing numerous cases against him and BJP members for speaking the truth. He further challenged the government to continue booking cases against him, asserting that it would not deter them from exposing the government’s wrongdoings.
The statement from the Governor’s office aims to address the confusion and apprehension among the public regarding the alleged prosecution sanction against Annamalai. It reaffirms the Raj Bhavan’s stance of being unaware of any such legal proceedings against the BJP leader.
