In a move aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring the safety and well-being of both pets and the public, the Greater Chennai Corporation has introduced new guidelines for pet owners to obtain licences and administer anti-rabies vaccines.
According to a recent release from the Greater Chennai Corporation, pet owners can now apply for a pet licence through the corporation’s official website, www.chennaicorporation.gov.in. The process has been streamlined to provide convenience and accessibility to the public.
To initiate the application process, individuals can utilize the online services section of the website and select the Pet Animal Licence option. New users are required to enter their details and create a four-digit PIN number for login purposes. Subsequently, users can log in using their mobile number and PIN number to proceed with the application.
During the application process, pet owners are prompted to provide essential details, including owner photo, address proof photo, and pet photo. Additionally, they are required to upload a photo proof of Rabies Vaccination (ARV) administered within the past year, as part of the declaration process.
Once the application is completed and submitted, the details undergo verification by the concerned Regional Veterinary Assistant. Upon approval, a payment SMS notification is sent to the registered mobile number. Pet owners are then required to visit the portal page of the Greater Chennai Corporation website to make an online payment of Rs 50 for the generation of the pet licence.
These guidelines aim to regulate pet ownership in the city and ensure that pets receive necessary vaccinations, contributing to the overall health and safety of the community.
