In a significant step towards enhancing transparency and improving welfare delivery, Public Health Director Selva Vinayak has issued a directive mandating the linkage of Aadhaar numbers to birth and death certificates in Tamil Nadu. Effective immediately, individuals are required to provide their Aadhaar numbers during registration for birth and death certificates, marking a pivotal shift towards comprehensive record-keeping from birth to death. Under the newly implemented Centralized Registration System (CRS), Aadhaar serves as a crucial identifier, facilitating seamless integration of vital statistics with government databases. This initiative aims to streamline welfare distribution processes, mitigate fraudulent claims, and bolster accountability in governance. District collectors have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the directive, particularly in regions with lower Aadhaar linkage rates such as Chennai. Emphasizing the importance of timely registration, individuals are urged to register births and deaths within 14 days of the respective events. Non-compliance may result in penalties, underscoring the seriousness of adherence to the new regulations. The notification of this directive extends to all districts, municipalities, panchayats, and hospitals across Tamil Nadu. @@@@
