Chennai Police have issued a traffic advisory in light of the demise of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founder Vijayakanth. As his mortal remains are shifted to Island Grounds for the public to pay their last respects, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police have implemented specific regulations to manage the expected influx of people and vehicles during this solemn occasion. VIP and VVIP vehicles have been granted special access routes, including Kamarajar Salai, Napier Bridge, War Memorial, and Flag Staff Road entering Anna Salai through the left entrance of the Island Grounds. Vehicles belonging to other senior artistes will be permitted up to Pallavan Point and Wallajah Point at the Anna Salai and Flag Staff Road Junction. Motorists are advised to anticipate a marginally heavy traffic volume in and around Island Grounds and are urged to consider alternative routes to ease congestion. Party cadre vehicles from various districts and heavy vehicles, including transportation buses and maxi cabs, will be allowed up to Anna Statue. From there, Party cadre vehicles will be redirected to the Beach Foreshore Road parking lot. Light vehicles and motorcycle volunteer vehicles will have designated routes through Periyar statue, Swami Sivananda Salai, and MLA Hostel road. Commercial vehicles are prohibited in and around Island Grounds, EVR Salai, Anna Salai, Kamarajar Salai, Koyambedu Flyover, and the 100 Feet road from Vadapalani to Thirumangalam.
