The Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, K Annamalai, has pointed fingers at the ruling DMK government, alleging a breakdown in law and order in the state following a series of petrol bomb attacks. Annamalai’s accusations come in the wake of a recent incident where a history-sheeter, Murali Krishnan, threw a Molotov cocktail at the Sanctum of Sri Veerabhadra Swamy temple near Parrys corner in Chennai.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating security situation, Annamalai stated, “Law and Order in Tamil Nadu has broken down. The result of DMK’s failure to control separatist organizations, which advocate pseudo-secularism and semi-atheism, has manifested in petrol bombs being thrown inside temples today.”
The BJP president highlighted previous petrol bomb attacks in the state, linking them to what he perceives as the DMK government’s inadequacies. He asserted that the government is accountable for all such incidents, including those near Raj Bhavan. Annamalai criticized the DMK administration, accusing it of attempting to downplay the seriousness of incidents such as the Coimbatore car blast, categorizing it as a cylinder blast rather than acknowledging it as a terror attack.
In response to the recent temple attack, city police swiftly apprehended Murali Krishnan, the individual responsible for hurling the petrol bomb. The police reported that the accused had expressed discontent with his life and directed curses towards the temple deity before carrying out the attack.
