Chennai: A 21-year-old man died allegedly after a group of persons attacked him over his relationship with a girl on Friday in Thanjavur district.

Police said the victim, Anand, 21, was attacked by a group of persons who were insisting him persistently to forego his affair with a girl in the same area claiming that the girl was a sister to him by relation.

In the fight, Anand sustained severe injuries and later died at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. The Thanjavur Taluk police are investigating the case.
