Chennai: Amid the hike in fuel prices, the Centre today increased the toll on the National Highways, which has come into effect from this morning.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has increased the toll tax from Rs 10 to Rs 60.

The revised rates have been issued for all types of vehicles plying on national highways as the authorities hiked fees by Rs 10 to Rs 60, depending on the type of vehicle. Orders in this regard have been issued to all regional NHAI officials.

Despite opposition from the Tamilnadu government, the National Highways Authority has increased toll rates at 28 toll plazas in the State from Friday.

These include four toll plazas (Paranur in Chengalpattu, Chennasamudram, Vanagaram, Surapattu) in Chennai’s suburbs, which the State government wanted to be shut down.
