Gold worth Rs 47 lakh seized at Chennai airport

Chennai: Based on intelligence, two male passengers, who arrived from Dubai were intercepted by Air Customs Officers in Chennai.

‘On examination of their checked in baggage eight gold bars ingeniously concealed in DC Power supply transformer and two gold chains on their person, totally 1062 grams of gold worth Rs 46.92 lakh (international market value) was seized under the Customs Act, 1962. Both of the passengers were arrested,’ said an official release.

Further investigations under progress, according to the release issued by Principal Commissioner of Customs, Chennai International Airport.
