Chennai: DMK president M K Stalin today announced a State-wide protest against the increase of fuel prices.

In a statement, he said agitations will be held on 22 February at district headquarters across Tamilnadu and the demonstrations will be led by the party’s district secretaries.

Meanwhile, the DMK today started receiving applications from party members who are willing to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections.

This comes a couple of days after DMK general secretary Durai Murugan announced that ticket aspirants can submit filled-up application forms prices at Rs 1,000 from 17 to 24 February.

The fee for the general constituency was Rs 25,000 whereas it was Rs 15,000 for women and reserved segments, he said in a DMK release.

The money will be refunded later if the constituency for which a DMK member had applied for was allotted to an alliance party, he added.
