Chennai: “I want to do commercial cinema. Given an opportunity, I want to prove my mettle in doing comedy films,” says actor Vasanth Ravi.
Vasanth Ravi made his debut with National award winning filmmaker Ram’s Taramani. His performance in the movie was widely acclaimed. Now he is ready with his next titled Rocky that features veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja as baddie.
Speaking about his journey in Kollywood, Vasanth Ravi, said, “After completing my MBBS, I pursued higher studies in London. I was bitten by acting bug since my younger days. I sharpened my skills during my college days.”
‘After I completed my studies, filmmaker Ram gave me an opportunity to be part of Taramani. It won me name and fame. I credit Ram for all what I managed. He also adviced me to do an thorough action-packed entertainer. I listened to over 40 scripts and finally zeroed in on Rocky.”
Throwing light on Rocky, Vasanth Ravi, says, “It is a gangster film. Bharathiraja was keen to direct me for a film. When we approached him with the story of Rocky, he was initially hesitant. But once he heard the script, he was convinced and agreed to do the same. I learnt a lot watching his performance from very close quarters.”
The movie also features Raveenaravi and Rohini in key roles. The movie is helmed by Ravi. He had written dialogues for Irudhi Suttru before, added Vasanth Ravi.
“Action scenes were challenging and I am happy that they have come really good,” he said.
