Chennai: Samuthirakani dons the role of a farmer in director Subramaniya Siva’s next ‘Vellai Yaanai’. It is the story of Thanjavur farmers and their sufferings.

Subramaniaya Siva says, “It is an agriculture based script and talks about the issues faced by farmers. I needed an imposing personality like Kani to portray a farmer as it would be convincing when issue is discussed. However, there is no preaching, but narrated in satirical comedy way. I have handled it with lot of sensitivity.”

Malayalam actress Athmiya, who acted as Sivakarthikeyan’s pair in Manamkothi Paravai, plays the heroine. Yogi Babu, SS Stanley, Ramadoss, Bava Chellathurai, Saranya Ravichandran are in the supporting cast.
